FAQ

Is this not too good to be true?

  • It might seem that way. But what INMEST is about is stimulating central parts of the nervous system, which in turn triggers several different processes in the body. You can read more about how INMEST affects the body in patients with chronic fatigue syndrome here. Much suggests that the processes that were affected by INMEST in this patient group are also similarly affected by INMEST in other diseases.

A good way to find out more about the importance of the vagus nerve for the body is to, for example, go to 1177 where there is an educational description in Swedish at the bottom of the page of how the autonomic nervous system works.

Is this new knowledge?

  • Both yes and no. It has long been known that the nervous system, including the brain, has a major impact on the body’s ability to heal and cope with stress. What is new is above all the way in which we stimulate the nervous system and that it can be performed by the patient at home without known side effects.

Why isn’t the method already being used?

  • It always takes time for new research findings and treatment methods to become widely accepted. Medical care should, as the law states, be based on “science and proven experience”. In practice, this means that scientific support for a method is not always enough, but that doctors also need to become familiar with it. So both research and patience are required.

How do I know that the money goes to research?

  • The foundation’s members receive no remuneration. On the contrary, they are contributors themselves. All money therefore goes straight to the research on INMEST.

Can I have requests about where my donation goes, for example to ALS that I see you will start researching?

  • You can choose to donate without specifying what your contribution will be used for. In this case, your contribution will be used for the studies we are currently conducting. You can also specify that your contribution will go to research on a specific area that we have communicated that we are researching or planning to start researching. In this case, your request to only support research on INMEST on the disease that you have specified will be honored. If, despite attempts, it is not possible to start a study in the area that you have specified that your contribution will be used for, we reserve the right to use your contribution for other studies.

How long must you undergo treatment before you get better?

  • From what we have seen so far, many diseases including ME/CFS require about 7 to 8 treatments before any effect of INMEST can be seen. However, much depends on the disease in question. Much research remains to be done.

What happens when you stop treatment?

  • The follow-up studies we have done show that the effect persists, for example in ME/CFS. For how long and to what degree we do not yet know. Perhaps the effect of INMEST in connection with certain diseases can last several months or years, perhaps the treatment in other conditions needs to be continued for life. The only way to get reliable answers to these questions is more research.
